Florida Academic Scholarship

Offered by Florida Department of Education, Office of Student Financial Assistance

About this scholarship

The Florida Academic Scholarship is the highest standard Bright Futures award for Florida high school graduates. At an eligible Florida public post-secondary institution, it pays 100 percent of tuition and specified fees; students at eligible nonpublic institutions receive a comparable amount. It can also fund eligible summer enrollment. Housing, meals, books, transportation, and ordinary personal costs are not guaranteed, so the record is classified as partial funding even though it covers public tuition. Applicants generally must be Florida residents and U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens, earn a standard Florida diploma or qualifying equivalent, complete 16 required college-preparatory credits, achieve at least a 3.50 weighted Bright Futures GPA, complete 100 approved volunteer-service hours, paid-work hours, or a permitted combination, and meet the current ACT, CLT, or SAT threshold by August 31 of the graduation year. They must submit the Florida Financial Aid Application, avoid disqualifying felony findings unless restored through clemency, enroll in an eligible Florida institution, and normally take at least six non-remedial semester credits. The 2026–27 FFAA must be filed by August 31, 2026, even if a student is still waiting for a final eligibility evaluation.
