Flinn Scholarship
Offered by Flinn Foundation
About this scholarship
The Flinn Scholarship is a comprehensive merit award for Arizona high school seniors attending Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, or the University of Arizona. The four-year package is valued above $135,000 and covers tuition, mandatory fees, housing, and meals. It also funds an international summer seminar after the first year and at least one additional study-abroad experience, and includes honors-college membership, faculty mentoring, and access to a statewide scholar and alumni network. Roughly 1,100 students apply each year; about 75 advance as semifinalists and about 35 become finalists, with a final cohort typically near 20. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents and must have lived in Arizona for the two years immediately before entering university. Competitive candidates generally hold at least a 3.5 unweighted GPA, rank in the top five percent where rank is reported, and score at least 26 ACT or 1230 SAT. Selection also weighs leadership, community involvement, communication, and personal qualities. The Class of 2027 application opens in late August 2026 and closes in mid-October; the Foundation had not published the precise day when this record was verified.
