FFAR Fellows Program
Offered by Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research and North Carolina State University
About this scholarship
The FFAR Fellows Program is a three-year PhD fellowship and professional development program for food and agriculture scientists. The official application page states that students from any university in the United States or Canada are eligible to apply, and that the Stipend + Professional Development category provides $49,500 per year for student stipend, tuition, fees, and related costs. The larger annual sponsorship structure also includes university overhead and program management costs, but the student-facing support amount is $49,500. The award is partial funding because it depends on matching sponsorship, covers defined fellowship costs, and does not guarantee every possible university or living expense beyond the stated category. Stipend-category applicants must already have a defined research project and an industry or analogous sponsor, with at least 50 percent of sponsorship pledged by a non-academic entity. The 2026-2029 portal is closed; FFAR states that the 2027-2030 application period opens November 1, 2026.
