About this scholarship

ETSU Undergraduate International Merit Scholarships are automatic awards for new degree-seeking international students at East Tennessee State University. ETSU lists three undergraduate merit tiers: the Blue Scholarship at $5,000 per year for students with more than a 3.0 GPA, the Gold Scholarship at $7,000 per year for students with more than a 3.5 GPA, and the Elite Scholarship at $9,000 per year for students with more than a 3.75 GPA. The award is partial funding because it helps with the cost of out-of-state or international tuition but does not cover full tuition, fees, housing, meals, health insurance, books, travel, or personal expenses. All students who apply for admission are considered automatically, and no separate scholarship application is needed. To receive an international merit scholarship, students must be admitted to ETSU as degree-seeking students, have or plan to have a visa that allows full-time study, and meet the GPA requirements from previous coursework. Undergraduate awards are limited to eight semesters if eligibility is maintained.

Eligibility

• Apply as a new degree-seeking international undergraduate student to ETSU
• Be admitted to East Tennessee State University
• Have or plan to have a visa that allows full-time study
• Freshman applicants need at least a 3.0 high school GPA for the lowest tier
• Transfer applicants need at least a 3.0 GPA in previous university coursework
• Students paying in-state or E-rate tuition are not eligible
• M.D. and PharmD applicants are excluded from these merit scholarships
• Maintain full-time enrollment and at least a 2.75 GPA each semester for continuation
