About this scholarship

The Ernst Mach Grant, named after the Austrian physicist and philosopher Ernst Mach and financed by Austria's Federal Ministry, invites students and young researchers from universities outside Austria to spend a research or study stay at an Austrian institution. It is administered by the OeAD and comes in several variants. The Ernst Mach Grant Worldwide is open to PhD students, postgraduates, postdocs, and researchers from all fields for a stay of one to nine months. The Ernst Mach Grant for Universities of Applied Sciences supports bachelor's (with at least four completed semesters) and master's students from defined countries of origin, with a maximum age of 35. The Ernst Mach Grant ASEA-UNINET serves applicants from member universities in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. The grant provides a monthly amount toward living costs (the rates assume actual living costs in Austria are higher, so applicants may need to show additional own funds), along with insurance and, in some variants, travel support. Applications are made through the online tool at scholarships.at, open from September, with the Worldwide deadline on 1 February for the following academic year.

Eligibility

  • Be a student or researcher at a university outside Austria
  • Fit one of the grant variants (Worldwide: PhD/postgrad/postdoc/researcher, any field)

  • Apply via the online tool at scholarships.at
