EPFL Excellence Fellowships
Offered by École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)
About this scholarship
The EPFL Excellence Fellowships are merit awards from the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, one of the world's leading science and engineering universities, designed to attract outstanding students to its master's programmes. Each fellowship provides CHF 10,000 per semester for up to four semesters — covering the two to three semesters of the master's cycle (depending on programme length) plus one semester for the master's project — and external candidates also benefit from a reservation of a room in a student residence, which is valuable given Lausanne's housing market. The scholarship application is fully integrated into the EPFL master's application form, so there is no separate process: you apply during one of two rounds (mid-November to 15 December, or 16 December to 31 March). Anyone applying to an EPFL master's programme is eligible, except candidates who already hold or are enrolled in a master's at EPFL, and each student may apply for only one master's programme per year. There is no minimum GPA, but the fellowship is extremely competitive and awarded only to the most deserving candidates based on academic excellence, qualifications, and motivation, with decisions communicated in early April and June.
Eligibility
- Be applying to an EPFL master's programme
- Not already hold, or be enrolled in, a master's at EPFL
- Apply for only one master's programme per year
- Demonstrate strong academic excellence, qualifications, and motivation
- Submit within one of the two application rounds (the form covers the fellowship)
Always verify amounts and deadlines on the official site; they change each cycle.
