About this scholarship

The Emory University Scholar Programs are the university's premier merit scholarships, awarding partial-to-full tuition support to exceptional incoming undergraduates across Emory College, Oxford College, and the Goizueta Business School. The flagship Robert W. Woodruff Scholarship — awarded to roughly the top 1% of applicants — provides full tuition along with supplemental experiential opportunities and entry into a university-wide network of scholars, fellows, and alumni, while Goizueta Scholars receive tuition scholarships ranging from 50% to 100% for four years. Because the awards are merit-based and most are tuition-focused, they are classed here as partial (the Woodruff is effectively full tuition), and Emory separately offers strong need-based aid. There is no separate scholarship application for nomination: you simply apply for first-year admission via the Common Application by the deadline and are considered automatically, with finalists selected for interviews. To be eligible you must submit the Common Application by November 15 (Early Decision I applicants by November 1) under Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision; the programs are open to all strong applicants, including international students, and finalists are notified by around March 1. Selection rewards outstanding academic achievement, intellectual curiosity, and leadership.
