Elizabeth Garde National Scholarship
Offered by Danish Sisterhood of America
About this scholarship
The Elizabeth Garde National Scholarship is an annual $850 Danish Sisterhood of America award for a post-high-school or graduate student pursuing nursing or another medical profession. One award is available each year, and an individual may receive it only once. The applicant must be a Danish Sisterhood member in good standing, or the child of a member in good standing, for at least one year before the March 1 deadline; the official guidelines also recognize a child of a member who was in good standing at the time of her death. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required. The downloadable national scholarship packet must be approved by the sponsoring lodge and postmarked with all supporting documents by March 1. Applicants provide official certified transcripts and two or three current character-reference letters. An employed applicant must include a letter from the employer stating average weekly hours. Someone out of high school for more than five years should add relevant classes, seminars, activities, and other evidence supporting the educational goal. The award is for educational fees, is not transferable, and must be used during the award year.
