EFWA American Dream Scholarship

Offered by Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting

About this scholarship

The EFWA American Dream Scholarship is a one-time award of up to $1,000 for a financially needy U.S. citizen attending an accredited two-year college and aspiring to transfer into a four-year accounting bachelor’s program. Unlike most Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting awards, this scholarship is open to applicants of any gender. It is designed to combine financial and mentoring support, particularly for students from Black, Latinx, and Native communities, while the official rules expressly state that eligibility is not exclusionary on the basis of gender, race, color, sex, age, religion, national or ethnic origin, disability, veteran status, socioeconomic background, or sexual orientation. EFWA’s 2027-28 application opens January 4 and closes March 30, 2027. Associate-level applicants should be pursuing a business program, with accounting applicants preferred. The common online process requires FAFSA evidence, uploaded transcripts, and reference letters; official transcripts are not required. Applicants may submit for only one EFWA award in a cycle. Online study qualifies when the courses come from an accredited U.S. college, and recipients are selected by May 31 for fall-term funding.
