Edwards Scholarship
Offered by Edwards Scholarship Fund
About this scholarship
The Edwards Scholarship Fund provides need-based gap assistance to Boston residents pursuing undergraduate degrees. The award can cover the difference between a college’s aid offer and the amount it determines the family can pay. Payments go directly to the school and may support tuition, on-campus housing, meal plans, or in some cases reduction of work-study or eligible loans. Award amounts vary because the trustees review each financial aid package and the applicant’s demonstrated need. Applicants must have lived in the City of Boston since at least the beginning of junior year in high school and retain a permanent Boston address when applying. First-time candidates may apply in high school or college, with priority for high school seniors. A diploma or GED is required before the first college semester, the school must be regionally accredited, and students must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA. Massachusetts community-college students are ineligible while that tuition is free, although students transferring to four-year institutions may apply. The portal opens March 1 and is due May 15 at 5 p.m. Eastern, or the next business day when May 15 is a weekend or holiday; therefore the 2027 deadline is May 17. Required materials include essays, FAFSA summary, financial aid package, transcript, and recommendation.
