Edward C. Bryant Scholarship
Offered by American Statistical Association
About this scholarship
The Edward C. Bryant Scholarship is an annual $2,500 cash award administered by the American Statistical Association to support an outstanding graduate student in survey statistics. Westat established the trust fund in 1995 in honor of its cofounder and chair emeritus. One recipient is chosen each year by the ASA Bryant Scholarship Award Committee. The committee evaluates the applicant’s potential to contribute to survey statistics, applied survey-statistics experience, and performance in graduate school. Students at both U.S. and international institutions are eligible. Priority goes to applicants currently enrolled in graduate study, although a student who documents official acceptance to a graduate program can also be considered. The official online application is due March 1 each year and directly accepts the candidate’s information and uploads. A complete submission includes a curriculum vitae, a one- to two-page double-spaced personal statement explaining the applicant’s interest in survey statistics and intended use of graduate training, all academic transcripts, and a headshot. Three academic references are preferred; each reference writer uses a separate official upload form and submits a letter no longer than two pages. Applicants may be pursuing an M.S., M.A., or Ph.D. in survey statistics.
