Earl Dedman Memorial Scholarship

Offered by American Floral Endowment

About this scholarship

The Earl Dedman Memorial Scholarship supports undergraduate juniors and seniors preparing to become greenhouse growers. American Floral Endowment administers the award through its common floriculture and horticulture scholarship platform. Applicants must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate a career interest in greenhouse production. AFE’s official platform states that its awards range from $500 to $5,000; the exact Earl Dedman amount depends on annual selection and funding, so the directory’s fixed $5,000 listing is not guaranteed. Applications reopen for the 2027 cycle and all components are due May 1, 2027. A student completes one online application and may select up to six matching AFE scholarships. Required materials include a résumé, two recommendation letters—preferably one academic and one from an employer—and a recent transcript, which does not have to be official. Materials must be in English or include an English translation. Award checks are issued jointly to the recipient and the college or institution attended in the fall, and selected students are notified by July 1. Applicants should use the direct AFE platform, select Earl Dedman among no more than six opportunities, and submit every component by the common deadline.
