E. Anne Spitzer, MD Memorial Scholarship

Offered by CalvertHealth Foundation

About this scholarship

The E. Anne Spitzer, MD Memorial Scholarship assists medical students who graduated from a Calvert County, Maryland high school. CalvertHealth Foundation’s current program page and undated official application packet establish a recurring April 15 postmark deadline, so the next application is due April 15, 2027. Applicants must already be admitted to an accredited medical school and have at least a 2.5 GPA. Financial need is reviewed, including other aid and resources, but it does not determine eligibility and is not the overriding selection factor. Awards carry no repayment obligation and recipients are not required to work for CalvertHealth. The paper packet includes the application, proof of medical-school acceptance, current official transcripts, a 500-word-or-shorter essay explaining the applicant’s choice of a medical career, and three reference questionnaires. One reference must be a current or former instructor; an employed applicant also uses a present employer, while a non-employed applicant uses the immediate past employer. Applicants mail the complete materials to the CalvertHealth Foundation Scholarship Committee in Prince Frederick, Maryland and are responsible for confirming receipt. Assistance is not automatically renewable: medical students must reapply by the annual deadline for every subsequent year.
