Dr. Francis Anthony Beneventi Medical Scholarship

Offered by Daughters of the American Revolution

About this scholarship

The Dr. Francis Anthony Beneventi Medical Scholarship is a national DAR award for one student attending or planning to attend an approved, accredited medical school, college, or university. DAR describes $5,000 as the preferred award amount. Applicants need a minimum 3.25 GPA, and the program is limited to medical-doctor study: pre-medical programs, veterinary medicine, and physician-assistant programs do not qualify. The scholarship is not automatically renewable, but recipients may compete again for up to four consecutive years. Continued consideration requires proof of enrollment and, after the first semester, annual transcript review showing that the 3.25 GPA has been maintained. Common national rules require U.S. citizenship and attendance or intended attendance at an accredited institution in the United States. The AcademicWorks portal accepts applications from November 1 through January 31 each year; the next closing time is January 31, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Hawaii Time. Applicants submit college and medical-school transcripts, proof of citizenship, a career-objectives statement, activities and honors, and two to four recent recommendations. MCAT scores should be included if they are not already recorded on a transcript. Funds are sent to the recipient’s educational institution and remain subject to the school’s permitted educational-expense rules.
