Dorothy DuBois Walker Beach Scholarship

Offered by DuBois Family Association and Historic Huguenot Street

About this scholarship

The Dorothy DuBois Walker Beach Scholarship awards two $1,000 scholarships to undergraduate or graduate students of documented Huguenot descent. It is offered by the DuBois Family Association in collaboration with Historic Huguenot Street, and the 2026 competition funds the spring 2027 semester. Applicants may attend an academic institution anywhere in the United States and are not limited to one major. They must, however, explain how their own ideals are reflected in Historic Huguenot Street’s mission, which centers on preserving and interpreting the history and culture of the New Paltz Huguenot community. The shared application packet requires a completed form for this specific award, an official college or university transcript, two recommendation letters, and a statement of goals. At least one recommendation must come from a college or university professor. Applicants for this award must also complete the included Huguenot Ancestry Form. The institution or transcript service should send the transcript directly, while emailed recommendations must come directly from the referees. Students may submit scholarship materials electronically according to the packet or mail them to the Historic Huguenot Street business manager in New Paltz, New York. Every component must be received by August 31, 2026. Committee decisions are scheduled by December 31 and awards are announced in January 2027.
