About this scholarship
The Dora Maclellan Brown Ministry Scholarship supports theologically and biblically conservative Christian students preparing for vocational ministry. The Generosity Trust gives primary geographic consideration to applicants connected to the greater Chattanooga area, broadly bounded by Dalton, Georgia; Cleveland and Dayton, Tennessee; and South Pittsburg, Tennessee. A student outside that area may still apply but must explain strategic ties to the region. Eligible study includes master’s-level or other qualifying classes at a theological seminary, Bible college, or comparable graduate institution; doctoral study is excluded. Supported ministry paths include pastoral service, missions, worship, biblical counseling, and continuing education for bi-vocational ministry. Awards vary because selection considers both merit and financial need. The 2027 application must arrive by February 15, 2027 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern. The official PDF requests a cover letter, the completed three-page form, one-page statements describing the applicant’s Christian testimony and call to ministry, transcripts, a résumé, and academic, church, and ministry references. Applicants outside the core area add a geographic-connection statement. Awards can generally continue through the remaining two or three years of an eligible program when the student maintains satisfactory progress, submits term reports, and continues to demonstrate need.
Eligibility
- Be a theologically and biblically conservative Christian preparing for vocational Christian ministry
- Have a connection to the greater Chattanooga area or explain strategic ties to that region
- Pursue qualifying non-doctoral classes or master’s-level study at a seminary, Bible college, or comparable graduate institution
- Demonstrate academic merit and financial need
- Submit a cover letter, completed application, testimony, call-to-ministry statement, transcripts, and résumé
- Provide the required academic, church, and ministry references
- Ensure the complete application arrives by February 15, 2027 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern
