Disciples Home Missions Student Scholarship Program
Offered by Disciples Home Missions
About this scholarship
The Disciples Home Missions Student Scholarship Program uses one application to consider eligible students for a portfolio of named funds supporting preparation for ministry in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada. The 2027 form opens January 2 and closes March 15, 2027; required references and transcripts must arrive by April 30. Most applicants must be members of a Disciples of Christ congregation, be preparing for ordained ministry, demonstrate financial need, and pursue an M.Div. or equivalent ordination-qualifying degree at an ATS-accredited seminary or theological school. Enrollment determines disbursement: nine or more credit hours receive a full award, six to eight hours receive two-thirds, and three to five hours receive one-third. Applicants provide official transcripts, three non-relative references from specified church and academic leaders, and confirmation that they are under the care of a regional Commission on the Ministry or entering that process. The common application also screens for specialized funds, including scholarships for African American undergraduates planning eventual ministry and named awards for particular backgrounds, schools, or ministry paths. A recipient may receive only one DHM scholarship per year, and all applicants must reapply annually.
