DAR American Indian Scholarship
Offered by Daughters of the American Revolution
About this scholarship
The DAR American Indian Scholarship provides $4,000 to American Indian students in vocational, technical, undergraduate, or graduate education. More than one award may be made each year. The program is national in scope: there is no age limit, tribal-region restriction, or state restriction, and applicants from any eligible tribe and any U.S. state may compete. Candidates must document American Indian identity with a tribal card from a tribe recognized at the state or federal level. They must also demonstrate financial need and hold at least a 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale or its institutional equivalent. Although graduate and technical students qualify, DAR gives preference to undergraduate applicants. Applications use the same secure AcademicWorks system as other DAR national scholarships and are accepted annually from November 1 through January 31; the next deadline is January 31, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Hawaii Time. Required common materials include transcripts, proof of U.S. citizenship, a career-objectives statement, activities and achievements, and two to four typed recommendations. Financial-need questions must be completed in the form, but DAR instructs applicants not to upload unrelated bank or tax records. Photographs visible on a tribal card, passport, transcript, or other uploaded document must be covered because visible applicant photographs cause disqualification.
