About this scholarship

The Danish Government Scholarships are funded by the Danish state and administered by individual Danish universities to attract highly qualified students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland. The award is granted as a full or partial tuition-fee waiver and/or as a grant covering basic living expenses, with the exact mix decided by each university; for master's programmes it generally applies for the two years of study. A convenient feature is that there is no separate scholarship application — you simply apply for admission to a master's programme at a Danish university, and all eligible applicants who are offered a place are automatically considered for the scholarship, with selection based primarily on previous academic records (GPA). To be eligible, you must be a citizen of a country outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland and be admitted to a Danish master's programme with a time-limited residence permit for the purpose of study. Because the scholarships are run institution by institution, deadlines and the precise value vary, so applicants should check the specific Danish university's admission and scholarship pages; admission deadlines commonly fall around mid-January, with scholarship outcomes communicated in the following months.

Eligibility

  • Be a citizen of a country outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland
  • Be admitted to a master's programme at a Danish university
  • Hold (or be eligible for) a time-limited study residence permit
  • Have a strong previous academic record (GPA-based selection)
  • Apply for admission by the university deadline (no separate scholarship application)
