Dan Whitworth Memorial Scholarship

Offered by Texas Amateur Athletic Federation

About this scholarship

The Dan Whitworth Memorial Scholarship is one of the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation’s Curtis Morgan Memorial Scholarship categories. It supports graduating high school students and current college students preparing for careers in parks, recreation, and leisure services through study in sports science, kinesiology, conservation, physical education, recreation and tourism management, or a closely related discipline. TAAF accepts applications and all supporting documents online by March 31 each year, making March 31, 2027 the next deadline. High school applicants must be accepted at an accredited college or university and enroll for at least 12 credit hours; they also need a top-quarter class rank, a 2.5 GPA, an SAT score of at least 850, or an ACT score of at least 21. Current college applicants may be in an accredited bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral program, must carry at least 12 credits per semester (or full-time graduate status), and need a 2.5 GPA or passing standing in a pass/fail program. Preference is given to applicants attending Texas institutions. Selection considers academics, test scores where applicable, relevant activities, volunteerism, work, honors, and the completeness of the submission.
