Dan Calugar Academic Achievement Merit Scholarship

Offered by Dan Calugar Foundation

About this scholarship

The Dan Calugar Academic Achievement Merit Scholarship recognizes exceptionally high-achieving U.S. high school seniors entering college in fall 2027. The Dan Calugar Foundation will award ten scholarships of $15,000, paid directly to the U.S. college or university where each recipient enrolls full time and restricted to tuition. Applications open September 1, 2026. The foundation does not publish a fixed closing date; it reports that all ten awards have historically been made by the end of September, so eligible students should apply promptly after the opening date rather than treating this as a month-end deadline. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must earn at least 1500 on one SAT sitting; combined “superscores” are not accepted. The application is sent to the scholarship email address published on the official page and includes a PDF SAT score report plus two separate PDF essays. One essay explains career objectives, goals, and how college will help achieve them. The second answers the foundation’s current federal-debt-to-GDP and productivity prompt. Students must state their intended college start year. College admission is not required at application time, but a selected student must later provide a fall 2027 admission letter before funds are released.
