DAAD Helmut-Schmidt Programme (Public Policy & Good Governance)
Offered by German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
About this scholarship
The DAAD Helmut-Schmidt Programme — Master's Scholarships for Public Policy and Good Governance (PPGG) — funds future leaders from developing and emerging countries who want to strengthen democracy, social justice, and sustainable development in their home regions. It supports study in a curated set of English-taught master's courses focused on public policy, good governance, international relations, public management and administration, civil society, peace and conflict studies, and development and socio-economic policy. As a full DAAD scholarship, it provides a monthly stipend (around €934), health, accident and liability insurance, a travel allowance, a study and research allowance, and a preparatory German-language course. Eligibility is targeted at very well-qualified graduates from a country on the DAAD developing-country list who hold a first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent) that is normally no more than six years old at the time of applying, and who are committed to contributing to their home country's social and economic development. Applicants apply to one of the selected PPGG master's courses and submit the DAAD scholarship application; the application round opens in early April, with exact deadlines varying by course.
