DAAD Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS)
Offered by German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
About this scholarship
EPOS — Development-Related Postgraduate Courses — is a DAAD scholarship line specifically for professionals from developing and newly industrialised countries who want to earn a development-relevant master's (or, exceptionally, a doctoral) degree at a German university. It funds study across a curated list of EPOS master's programmes covering fields such as economics, engineering, public health, agriculture, governance, and the environment. The scholarship provides a monthly stipend (around €934 for master's students), health, accident and liability insurance, a travel allowance, and a study/research allowance, with possible rent and family supplements. Eligibility is targeted: applicants must come from an eligible country on the DAAD list, hold an academic degree with far-above-average results (upper third of their class), and have at least two years of relevant professional experience after their first degree. The application route is distinctive — you apply directly to up to three EPOS courses; a selection committee proposes candidates to DAAD, and proposed candidates are then asked to upload their full application to the DAAD Portal for the final decision. Deadlines vary by course, so check each programme and the DAAD EPOS deadline list.
