Czech Government Scholarships (Developing Countries)
Offered by Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MŠMT), Czech Republic
About this scholarship
The Czech Government Scholarships for Developing Countries are offered by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MŠMT) within the framework of the Czech Republic's Foreign Development Cooperation, supporting foreign nationals from a defined list of developing and specified countries to study at Czech public universities. The scholarship is fully funded: study at Czech public institutions is tuition-free, and the award adds a monthly living stipend (CZK 17,000) plus support toward accommodation and travel; a one-year Czech-language preparatory course is provided for those who need it. Scholarships are available at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, with academic prerequisites at each level (secondary education for bachelor's, a bachelor's for master's, and a master's for PhD). Eligibility is restricted to citizens of the specific eligible countries who do not hold permanent residence in the Czech Republic or the EU — EU citizens and Czech nationals cannot apply. Applications are submitted online through the official MŠMT scholarships system, with an annual deadline around the end of September for the following academic year.
Eligibility
- Be a citizen of one of the eligible developing/specified countries
- Not hold permanent residence in the Czech Republic or the EU (EU citizens cannot apply)
- Hold the required prior qualification (secondary for BA, bachelor's for MA, master's for PhD)
- Be willing to study in Czech (with a preparatory language year) or an eligible English programme
- Apply online through the official MŠMT scholarships system by the deadline
