Cornell Grants and Endowed Scholarships

Offered by Cornell University

About this scholarship

Cornell Grants and Endowed Scholarships are need-based gift aid for eligible Cornell University undergraduates and do not have to be repaid. Cornell awards its grants after federal, state, and outside grant or scholarship funding, up to the student’s demonstrated financial need; the amount therefore varies by family circumstances and other aid. A student eligible for a Cornell Grant may also be matched with a donor-funded named endowed scholarship. That matching does not require a second scholarship application, and an endowed award may replace part of a Cornell Grant, work-study award, or student loan depending on the fund’s criteria. First-year and first-time aid applicants begin with the CSS Profile and use Cornell code 2098. Eligible U.S. applicants must also file the FAFSA using school code 002711, while continuing students follow the annual requirements for their student category. Cornell states that its total aid offer meets 100 percent of demonstrated need for admitted undergraduates, but that package can include grants, work-study, and reasonable student loans; it should not be described as an automatic full-tuition scholarship. Deadlines differ for early-decision, regular-decision, transfer, continuing, international, and undocumented applicants, so students should use Cornell’s applicant-specific aid page and apply every year.
