About this scholarship
Colorado Christian University’s Scripture Memory Scholarship rewards students who memorize and recite an entire book of the Bible. The official amount schedule ranges from $50 for a short book to $8,000 for Psalms; examples include $600 for Ephesians and $3,500 for the Gospel of John. Students may earn awards for multiple books, including more than one in a semester, but cannot receive the scholarship twice for the same book. A participant first notifies Student Financial Services of the books they intend to memorize. The student then recites each complete book in one sitting before at least two witnesses using a recognized translation and submits a separate signed verification form by the posted term deadline. The Scholarship Advisory Committee conducts a follow-up meeting of no more than 30 minutes and asks the student to continue selected passages to confirm mastery. A student who is not approved may try again, but every additional committee attempt reduces that book’s original award by 10 percent. Summer recitations apply to fall, fall recitations apply to spring, and spring recitations may apply to the current spring or following fall. The program is limited to current or incoming students in CCU’s College of Undergraduate Studies.
Eligibility
- Be currently enrolled in, or entering in the next term or academic year, CCU’s College of Undergraduate Studies
- Memorize an entire Bible book using a recognized translation
- Notify CCU Student Financial Services of the intended book or books
- Recite the complete book in one sitting without prompting before at least two witnesses
- Submit a signed witness verification form for each book by the posted term deadline
- Complete the Scholarship Advisory Committee’s follow-up verification successfully
- Apply only for Bible books for which the student has not previously received this scholarship
