About this scholarship

Clark University's Presidential Scholarship is the university's most selective undergraduate merit award for first-year applicants. It recognizes students who rank among the strongest admitted applicants because of exceptional academic achievement, leadership potential, and personal qualities shown through the admission application. The award is unusually comprehensive for a U.S. liberal arts and research university: it covers full tuition plus on-campus housing and meals for all four undergraduate years, regardless of family financial circumstances. Clark states that roughly five students receive the scholarship each year. There is no separate scholarship form, so the admission application is the student's scholarship application; admitted students are reviewed by the scholarship committee, finalists are invited to interview, and recipients are notified through the admission process. International students may be considered as part of the applicant pool, provided they apply for undergraduate admission and meet Clark's academic and English-language expectations. Because the award is merit-based and very limited, students should treat it as highly competitive and should also review other Clark merit and need-based options.
