Clarence A. “Buck” Iles Scholarship
Offered by Saginaw Community Foundation
About this scholarship
The Clarence A. “Buck” Iles Scholarship helps a Saginaw County high school senior prepare for work in a building trade. Carrie Iles established the fund in memory of her husband, a World War II veteran who became a journeyman electrician and electrical contractor and operated Iles Electric Company in the Saginaw area. Eligible pathways include undergraduate or associate degrees and career and technical education programs in a building trade or related field. Enrollment may be part time or full time. The specific fund page does not state a fixed award. Saginaw Community Foundation says its career and technical education scholarships typically range from $500 to $4,000; the displayed $2,000 value is only a midpoint used for sorting. Applicants complete the Foundation’s single GOapply form, which can qualify a student for additional SCF funds. The next cycle opens November 1, 2026 and closes February 12, 2027 under the Foundation’s annual second-Friday-in-February schedule. Reviewers score the applicant’s essay and academic record most heavily, then consider building-trade skills or interests, involvement in school, work, and community, and financial need. The fund accepts students with at least a 2.5 GPA and does not require full-time enrollment.
