Claire Yost Memorial Scholarship
Offered by Saginaw Community Foundation
About this scholarship
The Claire Yost Memorial Scholarship supports a graduating Saginaw United High School senior who previously attended Arthur Hill High School and whose school staff identify the student as a “turnaround” student. The fund honors Claire Yost, an Arthur Hill teacher and counselor known for helping students improve academically and pursue education after high school. Recipients may study full time for an undergraduate or associate degree or complete career and technical education training at a Michigan college or university. The fund page does not publish a fixed award. Saginaw Community Foundation reports that its career and technical education awards typically range from $500 to $4,000, so the displayed sorting value is a midpoint estimate and is not a guaranteed Claire Yost award. Students use the Foundation’s single GOapply application, which can also match them with other eligible funds. The next annual application opens November 1, 2026 and, under the Foundation’s published second-Friday-in-February rule, is due February 12, 2027. Selection for this fund gives the greatest weight to recommendation letters, followed by evidence that the student meets the turnaround criterion; financial need is also considered. An interview may be used only to break a tie. Scholarship recipients are generally notified by mid-May.
