Churchill Scholarship
Offered by Winston Churchill Foundation of the United States
About this scholarship
The Churchill Scholarship supports one year of master’s study at Churchill College, University of Cambridge, for U.S. students with exceptional achievement in science, mathematics, or engineering. Up to 16 awards are offered annually. Each scholarship covers Cambridge tuition, round-trip airfare to the United Kingdom, visa fees, the immigration health surcharge, and a living stipend set above the UK Research Council rate. The total package exceeds $80,000, and scholars may request an additional $4,000 special research grant. Eligible study consists of an approved nine- to twelve-month MPhil or MASt program, often centered on independent research. Selection emphasizes academic and research accomplishment rather than general leadership credentials. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and current seniors at a participating U.S. institution, or graduates of one within the twelve months before the deadline. They must secure their institution’s nomination and will normally need correspondence with a proposed Cambridge supervisor or course director, except for specified programs such as the mathematics MASt and Advanced Computer Science MPhil. The national deadline is November 2, 2026, but campus endorsement deadlines occur earlier.
