Chevening Scholarships

About this scholarship

Chevening is the UK government's flagship international scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and partner organisations. It enables outstanding emerging leaders from around the world to pursue a fully funded one-year master's degree at any UK university. The award covers full university tuition, a monthly living stipend, a return economy airfare to the UK, and arrival and departure allowances. Applicants may apply to up to three eligible UK master's courses and must secure an unconditional offer from one of them by the stated deadline. Around 1,500 scholarships are awarded each year across more than 150 countries and territories. Selection focuses on leadership potential, a clear post-study career plan, strong academic background, and genuine networking ability. Applications typically open in early August and close in early October for study beginning the following September; recipients commit to returning to their home country for at least two years after the scholarship.

Eligibility

• Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory
• Hold an undergraduate degree sufficient for entry to a UK master's
• Have at least 2,800 hours (roughly two years) of work experience
• Receive an unconditional offer from an eligible UK course by the stated deadline
• Return to your home country for a minimum of two years after the award
• Not hold UK/EU citizenship or have previously studied with UK government funding
