Charles J. Hasbrouck Memorial Scholarship

Offered by Historic Huguenot Street

About this scholarship

The Charles J. Hasbrouck Memorial Scholarship provides one $1,000 award for an undergraduate whose studies connect directly to historic places and collections. Eligible fields include historic preservation, architecture, and the conservation of artifacts and manuscripts. Applicants must also show how their scholarship or academic work can help educate the public about local history in a way that advances the mission of Historic Huguenot Street. The 2026 award will be applied to the recipient’s spring 2027 semester. This scholarship does not list Huguenot ancestry as a requirement, so applicants should focus on the academic-field and public-education criteria rather than complete the ancestry attachment intended for other awards. The official packet requires a separate application form for each HHS scholarship sought, an official college or university transcript, two letters of recommendation, and a statement outlining the applicant’s goals. At least one recommendation must be written by a college or university professor. Transcripts and recommendations must arrive through the direct or sealed methods specified by Historic Huguenot Street; applicant-forwarded informal copies do not satisfy those instructions. Materials may be delivered electronically as directed in the packet or mailed to the business manager in New Paltz, New York. The complete application must be received by August 31, 2026, with the award announced in January 2027.
