About this scholarship

Cape Breton University Major Entrance Scholarships are limited renewable entrance awards for students entering CBU, including international students entering directly from high school. CBU states that Canadian and international students who wish to be considered for entrance scholarships must submit materials in addition to an admission application, including an official transcript and, for bursary consideration, a financial need application. The major entrance scholarship table lists the Chancellor's Scholarship at CAD $30,000 total or CAD $7,500 yearly, the President's Scholarship at CAD $20,000 or CAD $5,000 yearly, the Deans' Scholarship at CAD $10,000 or CAD $2,500 yearly, the Fitzgerald at CAD $20,000 or CAD $5,000 yearly, the Schwartz at CAD $14,000 or CAD $3,500 yearly, and the W.M. Reid at CAD $11,500 with CAD $4,000 and CAD $2,500 yearly amounts. The award is partial funding because it does not cover the full cost of tuition, fees, housing, meals, books, insurance, travel, or personal expenses. Accepted students can apply for Entrance Scholarships until March 1.

Eligibility

• Apply and be accepted to Cape Breton University
• Enter directly from high school for high-school entrance scholarship consideration
• Submit an official transcript
• Submit the required entrance scholarship application materials by March 1
• International high-school averages are determined by Cape Breton University
• If conditionally admitted for ESL, attend a CBU English-language partner school for the award to be honoured
• Meet CBU admission and English-language requirements
