Blair County Medical Society Scholarship

Offered by Blair County Medical Society and The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society

About this scholarship

The Blair County Medical Society Scholarship awards $2,600 to one medical student for 2026-2027. Blair County physicians funded the scholarship, and The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society administers the current application. A candidate must be a U.S. citizen and must have lived in Blair County, Pennsylvania, for at least 12 months before registering as a medical student. Time spent in Pennsylvania only to attend undergraduate or graduate school does not count toward that residency period. Applicants may attend any fully accredited U.S. medical school, but they must enroll full time and be entering or attending their second, third, or fourth year. A past recipient of this scholarship cannot receive it again. The dedicated application portal requires two nonfamily reference letters that discuss the applicant’s integrity, interpersonal skills, and potential as a physician. One letter must come from a medical-school professor or physician. A school official must provide a letter on letterhead verifying the student’s full-time enrollment and year. Applicants also write an essay of no more than 500 words about their reasons for pursuing medicine, personal goals, and future plans in the profession. The application window runs from July 1 through September 30, 2026, with committee notifications expected in November.
