Partial United States; approved study in Denmark is also permitted

Betty Hansen National Scholarship

Offered by Danish Sisterhood of America

About this scholarship

The Betty Hansen National Scholarship awards up to six $2,500 scholarships each year to eligible Danish Sisterhood of America members and their children. Applicants may be entering or already enrolled full time in an accredited four-year college or university as undergraduate or graduate students, and they must have at least a 2.5 GPA. Study in Denmark may be approved through a written request to the scholarship chair. The official sponsor page states that all national scholarship applications are due March 1 for study beginning in the fall of the application year, and it links directly to the reusable application packet. A sponsoring Danish Sisterhood lodge must verify eligibility and approve the application. The packet also requires official academic transcripts, official test-score documentation when applicable, and two or three current original character-reference letters; employed applicants must include a reference from their employer stating average weekly work hours. Applicants describe their school plans, educational or career goal, activities, employment, financial circumstances, and how the award would advance that goal. First-time applicants receive priority, and a person may receive no more than two national scholarships. Award funds are for educational fees and are paid only after the recipient documents full-time matriculation for the applicable semester.
