About this scholarship
The Baylor BGCT Ministry Scholarship pays 5% of tuition for Baylor undergraduate hours through a partnership with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. It supports Baptist students preparing for church-related vocational ministry. Applicants must affirm a call to ministry, live in keeping with Christian principles, be active in a Baptist church, obtain church certification, and work toward a Religion major or minor or another ministry-related degree such as Church Music or Church Recreation. The shared live Ministry Scholarships Application lets students choose the BGCT award, upload a testimony, identify the pastor responsible for certification, and accept the program covenant. First-year students are certified by their home Baptist church; renewal requires involvement and certification through a local school-year church cooperating with BGCT. The scholarship is renewable through graduation, but eligibility is reviewed annually and students must reaffirm their call, remain in the approved academic path, and meet Baylor’s satisfactory-academic-progress rules. Recipients must take REL 2480, Introduction to Ministry, and its ministry-vocations assessment; failure to complete it satisfactorily can block graduation unless the award is repaid. Apply before the relevant semester begins. FAFSA may qualify students for additional ministry aid.
Eligibility
- Be admitted to Baylor University as an undergraduate
- Show evidence of a call to church-related vocational ministry and commitment to Christian principles
- Be an active member of a Baptist church and obtain the required church certification
- Pursue a Religion major or minor or another approved ministry-related degree
- Complete the live Ministry Scholarships Application and upload a personal-call testimony before the semester begins
- Accept the BGCT student covenant and complete REL 2480 Introduction to Ministry
- Renew annually through church certification, reaffirmation of call, and satisfactory academic progress
