AWWA Water Matters Now Scholarship
Offered by American Water Works Association Water Equation
About this scholarship
The AWWA Water Matters Now Scholarship offers $5,000 to an undergraduate student interested in building a career in the water sector. Unlike many technical water awards, it is open regardless of academic major. That broad eligibility reflects the industry’s need for people in engineering, science, communications, finance, policy, operations, technology, community engagement, and other disciplines that help deliver safe and reliable water. Applicants use the American Water Works Association Water Equation AwardSpring portal for the 2027–2028 academic year. They do not need to be AWWA members, but they must be permanent residents of the United States, Canada, or Mexico. Selection is merit-based, so applicants should clearly connect their studies, experiences, and career plans to a meaningful role in water and submit a strong academic record and recommendations. All recommendation letters must reach the portal before the deadline, and incomplete applications are not reviewed. AWWA sends funds directly to the recipient’s institution. Permitted uses may include tuition, books, laboratory fees or equipment, and conference registration. The current application window closes November 6, 2026.
