AUC First-Year Art History Scholarship
Offered by AUC Art History + Curatorial Studies Collective
About this scholarship
The AUC First-Year Art History Scholarship provides variable financial assistance to incoming Art History majors attending Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, or Spelman College. Candidates must already be accepted through their institution’s admissions office, officially declare Art History, and have at least a 3.0 high-school GPA. The AUC Collective looks for motivated, well-rounded students with strong character and a demonstrated commitment to studying art history. Its live scholarship form requires a résumé, an art- or art-history writing sample, and availability for a virtual or in-person interview. The writing submission may be an existing analysis or research paper from an art course, or a formal analysis of one chosen artwork; either option is limited to three double-spaced pages in 12-point type. Relevant AP Art History, AUC Early College participation, visual-arts work, internships, or volunteering may strengthen review. Students enroll in at least 15 hours in both fall and spring. The award covers the first year, with continuation into spring determined after a first-semester review and maintenance of a 3.0 GPA, good standing, and satisfactory progress. Review is rolling, but first-year applicants are strongly encouraged to apply by April 15. International students and students ineligible for federal aid are not eligible.
