About this scholarship

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), an international postgraduate institution in Thailand specialising in engineering, environment, and management, offers a range of merit scholarships to help international students fund master's and doctoral study. AIT Scholarships subsidise tuition — covering all or a portion of tuition fees only — while students remain responsible for the rest of the tuition, the registration fee (about 20,000 Baht per semester to maintain student status), and living expenses (roughly 11,500–15,000 Baht per month). A convenient feature is that there is no separate scholarship application: once you submit the online admission application, you are automatically considered for all scholarships for which you are eligible and whose deadline has not passed, including AIT Scholarships, Royal Thai Government (RTG) Fellowships, and the HM King's and Queen's scholarships. Eligibility for master's study requires a four-year bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from a recognised institution, undergraduate grades well above average (minimum cGPA 2.75), and English proficiency (e.g. IELTS 6 or TOEFL iBT 80). Note that applicants to one-year master's programmes are not eligible for scholarships. Key deadlines fall on 28 February (HM King's/Queen's and GMS) and 10 June (AIT Scholarships/RTG), with later cut-offs for visa processing.

Eligibility

  • Hold a four-year bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from a recognised institution
  • Have undergraduate grades well above average (minimum cGPA 2.75)
  • Meet English proficiency (IELTS 6 / TOEFL iBT 80 / AIT-EET 6)
  • Apply to an eligible master's or PhD programme (1-year master's programmes excluded)
  • Submit the AIT online application (you are auto-considered for eligible scholarships)

Always verify amounts and deadlines on the official site; they change each cycle.
