Arthur Lockwood Beneventi Law Scholarship
Offered by Daughters of the American Revolution
About this scholarship
The Arthur Lockwood Beneventi Law Scholarship is a national DAR award for students enrolled in or attending an accredited law school. The sponsor describes the award as a one-time scholarship with a preferred amount of $2,000, meaning applicants should not reinterpret it as a guaranteed multi-year package. A minimum 3.25 GPA is required. The scholarship is not automatically renewed, but previous recipients may compete again in a later annual cycle. National DAR Scholarship Committee rules also require U.S. citizenship and attendance or planned attendance at an accredited institution in the United States; applicants do not need DAR membership or chapter sponsorship. The application is completed in DAR AcademicWorks during the annual November 1 through January 31 submission period. For the next cycle, materials are due January 31, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Hawaii Time. In addition to the scholarship-specific law-school and GPA requirements, applicants prepare proof of citizenship, relevant undergraduate and law-school transcripts, a statement of career objectives, a concise list of activities and honors, and two to four recent recommendations addressing character, ability, work habits, potential, and service. Law students should include LSAT scores if those scores are not shown on their academic records. Awards are paid to the recipient’s educational institution rather than directly to the student.
