About this scholarship
The American Red Cross Leaders Save Lives Scholarship rewards students who organize a successful blood drive while school is out of session. For the summer 2026 program, the student must register as the primary Blood Program Leader and schedule a new qualifying Red Cross drive in the United States between May 25 and September 7, 2026. The drive must collect at least 25 productive pints from a single operation; separate operations cannot be combined. Eligible leaders are enrolled at a U.S. high school, college, university, community college, technical school, or trade school and are legal U.S. residents. High school participants must intend to graduate after senior year and continue at an accredited postsecondary institution. Postsecondary students need at least one academic semester remaining. A qualifying drive earning 25–59 pints enters its leader in a drawing for one of six $1,000 scholarships; 60–99 pints enters the $1,500 drawing with two winners; and 100 or more pints enters the $2,500 drawing with two winners. Each qualifying leader also receives a $100, $250, or $500 gift card at the corresponding tier. Scholarship checks go to the winner’s educational institution or 529 account, not directly to the student. The summer drawing is expected around September 14, 2026. Students should register through the dedicated Leaders Save Lives form and complete their drive by Labor Day, September 7.
Eligibility
- Be a legal resident of the United States
- Be enrolled at a U.S. high school, college, university, community college, technical school, or trade school
- High school students must plan to graduate after senior year and continue at an accredited postsecondary institution
- Postsecondary students must have at least one academic semester remaining
- Register as the primary Blood Program Leader for a Leaders Save Lives blood drive
- Schedule and host a qualifying U.S. blood drive between May 25 and September 7, 2026
- Collect at least 25 productive pints in one blood-drive operation
- Do not combine the drive with another Red Cross scholarship or community-club program
