About this scholarship

The American Indian College Fund is the largest provider of scholarships and support to Native American and Alaska Native students in the United States, and its Full Circle Scholarship is the main program open to Native students attending any accredited nonprofit college or university (not only tribal colleges). The Full Circle Scholarship is open to any Native American U.S. citizen who is an enrolled member, or a descendant of an enrolled member, of a state or federally recognized tribe; applicants need a minimum 2.0 GPA and must plan to enroll full time at a nonprofit, accredited college or university. Award amounts vary but average roughly $2,000 to $3,000, and importantly students only submit one application each year to be considered for the College Fund's entire portfolio of scholarships. The application opens on February 1 in anticipation of the fall term, with a priority-review deadline of May 31 (applications are still welcomed after that date, but applying by the priority deadline improves the chance of an award). Applicants submit a digital photo, an unofficial copy of their most recent transcript, and — if they are an enrolled tribal member — a copy of their tribal ID or Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB).

Eligibility

  • Be a Native American US citizen who is an enrolled member or descendant of a state/federally recognized tribe
  • Have a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Plan to enroll full time at a nonprofit, accredited college or university
  • Submit one application with a transcript, photo, and tribal ID/CIB if applicable
  • Apply by the 31 May priority-review deadline for the best chance

Always verify amounts and deadlines on the official site; they change each cycle.
