American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellowship
Offered by American Cancer Society
About this scholarship
The American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellowship supports early-career investigators in mentored research training that prepares them for independent careers in cancer research. Applicants may request a two- or three-year term. The current three-year stipend schedule rises from $66,000 in year one to $68,000 in year two and $70,000 in year three. Fellows also receive a $4,000 annual allowance for costs such as health insurance, workshops, and presenting research, plus an additional $1,500 in the final year for the ACS Postdoctoral Fellows Symposium or a domestic scientific meeting. Candidates must hold a postdoctoral position at a U.S. academic institution or eligible nonprofit; instructors, assistant professors, research scientists, and staff scientists are not eligible. At the deadline, the applicant must have held a terminal doctoral degree for no more than three years and/or completed no more than three years of postdoctoral research training, excluding clinical-only training where the policy allows. U.S. citizens and noncitizens with appropriate visas or lawful immigration status may apply. Only one postdoctoral fellowship proposal may be submitted per cycle. Applications are filed in ProposalCentral, which is the sponsor’s official submission system. ACS runs regular June 1 and December 1 deadlines, moving a deadline to the next business day when it falls on a weekend or holiday.
