American Australian Association Veterans’ Fund Scholarship
Offered by American Australian Association
About this scholarship
The American Australian Association Veterans’ Fund Scholarship provides up to USD $40,000 for veterans studying in the partner country. It supports full-time undergraduate study in any field and graduate study at the master’s, doctoral, or postdoctoral level. Funds may cover tuition, travel, living expenses, and related educational costs, and may be combined with other veteran benefits such as the GI Bill. Since 2017, the fund has supported more than 75 Veteran Scholars and committed more than $3 million. Applicants must be honorably discharged veterans and either U.S. citizens or permanent residents planning at least one full-time year at an accredited Australian institution, or Australian citizens or permanent residents planning equivalent study in the United States. Dual U.S.–Australian citizens or permanent residents are not eligible. Post-9/11 veterans receive preference, but the general undergraduate page states that veterans from other service periods may apply. A confirmed institutional offer is not required at application, although the veteran should be actively seeking placement. Required materials include discharge papers, a passport page, a one-to-two-minute video, a one-page resume, three recommendations, and a detailed budget. The U.S.-to-Australia application closes September 30, 2026; the Australia-to-U.S. round normally runs January 1 through March 31.
