Allegheny County Medical Society Medical Student Scholarship
Offered by Allegheny County Medical Society Foundation and The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society
About this scholarship
The Allegheny County Medical Society Medical Student Scholarship provides one $12,000 award for the 2026-2027 academic year. It is funded by the Allegheny County Medical Society Foundation and administered by The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society. Applicants must be U.S. citizens who lived in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, for at least 12 months before registering as medical students; time spent in Pennsylvania solely for undergraduate or graduate school does not establish the required residency. Candidates must be enrolled full time in an accredited Pennsylvania medical school and be entering or attending their third or fourth year. Past recipients of this specific scholarship cannot receive it again. The award has its own direct online solicitation. A complete application includes two nonfamily reference letters addressing integrity, interpersonal skills, and potential as a physician, with at least one letter from a medical-school professor or physician. The medical school must also provide an enrollment-verification letter on letterhead. Applicants submit an essay of no more than 500 words explaining how they hope to serve their community beyond clinical care and demonstrate physician leadership. The portal is open from July 1 through September 30, 2026, and the committee plans to notify applicants in November.
