Alice L. Haltom Educational Fund Scholarship

Offered by Alice L. Haltom Educational Fund

About this scholarship

The Alice L. Haltom Educational Fund Scholarship supports students preparing for careers in records and information management. The Fund’s current eligibility statement limits consideration to U.S. or Canadian citizens who live in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or New Mexico and are studying records management or governance, archives, or academic librarianship. Applicants need at least a 3.0 GPA. The official scholarship page provides both a live online application and a downloadable form; the Apply button here opens the actual online form. Applicants submit a 200–300 word essay explaining how their education will benefit their records-and-information career and add value to an organization, three recommendations from employers, instructors, or other qualified references, a current transcript, and a degree plan. Awards are released after the recipient provides written proof of enrollment in an accredited institution. Recipients must later provide receipts for eligible tuition, fee, and book expenses up to the award amount and send the Fund their grades for the funded school year. The trustees determine the number of awards each year, and the official page does not promise a fixed dollar amount. Applications are due May 1 in the year for which funding is requested, with award notices scheduled for July.
