Alfred State Scholars Award

Offered by Alfred State College (SUNY)

About this scholarship

The Alfred State Scholars Award is the college’s leading in-state merit scholarship for talented first-time, full-time students entering a bachelor’s degree program. The current maximum is $5,000 per year, with the top level normally granted to applicants whose high-school GPA is at least 92.5. The exact offer depends on the strength of the student’s academic record and available funding. Applicants must be New York State residents and study on campus at Alfred or Wellsville. The funds are designated for non-tuition education costs such as books, supplies, fees, and transportation. There is no separate scholarship application: completing the official SUNY admission application for Alfred State triggers consideration, which is why the Apply link opens ApplySUNY directly. To secure an offered scholarship, students must commit to Alfred State by May 1. Renewal requires a minimum 2.0 GPA each semester, uninterrupted full-time enrollment, and continued on-campus study at Alfred or Wellsville. Some scholarships may not be available to students starting in spring. The directory’s former “College Scholars Award” and $20,000 total have been normalized here to the current official name and annual amount so applicants see the present program rather than an outdated aggregate figure.
