About this scholarship
The AIFS Abroad Green Ambassador Scholarship recognizes study and intern abroad participants who can make environmental sustainability visible and practical during their international program. AIFS offers up to two $500 awards for fall semester and up to two $500 awards for spring semester or winter quarter, plus up to two $300 summer awards. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability and complete both the scholarship application and the underlying AIFS Abroad program application by the term deadline. Recipients take on an active ambassador role: they collaborate with on-site staff to plan and carry out at least one green event that promotes sustainability, climate education, or environmental awareness. They also share the experience through AIFS Abroad social media, which may include an Instagram takeover, blog post, or another form of content. The scholarship applies to qualifying study and intern abroad programs but excludes spring-break and virtual options. The next verified deadline is October 1, 2026 for spring semester and winter-quarter programs. AIFS also lists March 1 for summer and April 15 for fall. Applications are submitted inside the official AIFS student portal.
Eligibility
- Apply to an eligible AIFS Abroad study or intern abroad program
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental sustainability
- Complete both the AIFS program and Green Ambassador scholarship applications
- Agree to collaborate with on-site staff on at least one sustainability or climate-awareness event
- Agree to share the ambassador experience through AIFS Abroad social media or other content
- Not use the award for a spring-break or virtual program
- Submit by October 1, 2026 for a spring semester or winter quarter program
