About this scholarship

The ADB-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP), funded by the Government of Japan and administered by the Asian Development Bank, offers about 135 graduate scholarships a year for master's study in economics, business and management, science and technology, and other development-related fields. Study takes place at 25 designated institutions across Asia and the Pacific (15 of them in Japan). The scholarship covers full tuition, subsistence including a housing allowance, a book allowance, medical insurance, travel, and a research subsidy, though it does not cover a scholar's family costs or various extracurricular expenses. Applicants must be nationals of an ADB borrowing member country that is also eligible for Japanese ODA scholarships, must not hold dual citizenship of a developed country, and need a bachelor's degree with a superior record plus at least two years of full-time professional work experience. There is a general age limit of 35, English proficiency is required, and scholars agree to return home and work for at least two years after completing their studies. To apply, request the institution's application form, indicate you wish to be considered for the ADB-JSP, and submit the combined documents to that institution.
