Abe Voron Award
Offered by Broadcast Education Association and the Abe Voron Committee
About this scholarship
The Abe Voron Award offers three scholarships of $3,500 each for students preparing for careers or advanced work in radio or audio media. The Abe Voron Committee sponsors the awards through the Broadcast Education Association. Applicants must be students who will be juniors, seniors, or graduate students in 2027-2028 and will study at a college or university where at least one department is a BEA institutional member. Two-year students transferring to a qualifying four-year institution may compete for undergraduate awards. Students do not need an individual BEA membership, but they create a profile and submit BEA’s single online scholarship application. The association automatically evaluates that application for every award the student is eligible to receive. Applicants upload transcripts from all colleges attended and two recommendation letters on letterhead. At least one letter must come from an electronic-media professor at a college or university, while the second may be from a professor or an industry professional. The form also gathers academic data, radio or media experience, other experience, and a written statement of professional goals. Scholarships fund full-time degree work for the whole academic year and may pay only eligible campus-account expenses. Complete applications, including acceptance of the portal’s terms, are due by 11:59 p.m. local time on October 16, 2026.
